Slup, the picturesque city with the mill
Slup is situated about 15 km south-east of Znojmo and 5 km from the Austrian border to the Weinviertel region in Lower Austria.This picturesque city in Southern Moravia in the Czech Republic has 452 citizens and its water-powered grain mill from the 16th century is especially worth a visit.
With its four water wheels this is the biggest mill in the whole of Moravia. The inner machinery originates from the 19th century and was fully restored. One can find the Southern Moravian mill museum as well as the typical house of a fisherman in the mill. Furthermore, the mill is the exterior station of the Technical Museum of Brno.
